To The Stars Academy of Arts & Science (commonly known as To The Stars or TTSA) is a public benefit corporation founded in 2017 by musician Tom DeLonge, alongside former government, intelligence, and aerospace officials. The organization was established to explore unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), advanced aerospace technologies, and frontier science, while bridging the gap between scientific research, government transparency, and public entertainment.
TTSA gained widespread national and international attention in late 2017 for its pivotal role in bringing official U.S. government UAP video footage and intelligence perspectives into mainstream public discourse.
History
Founding and 2017 Launch
To The Stars was publicly launched in October 2017 via a live-streamed event hosted by founder Tom DeLonge. Joining DeLonge were key figures from the intelligence and defense communities, including former senior intelligence officer Luis Elizondo and former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Intelligence Christopher Mellon.
The entity was structured as a Public Benefit Corporation, allowing individuals to invest directly in the company’s vision across three core divisions: Science, Aerospace, and Entertainment.
Impact on UAP Disclosure
In December 2017, TTSA collaborated with The New York Times on a landmark investigative article revealing the existence of the Pentagon’s Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP). Alongside the report, TTSA helped release three iconic declassified military videos—commonly known as FLIR1, Gimbal, and GoFast—captured by U.S. Navy aviators. These releases catalyzed Congressional briefings, formal military reporting protocols, and the eventual creation of official government bodies like the UAP Task Force and AARO (All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office).
